It's been a long wait, Sassenachs, but looks like the torture has come to an end. STARZ announced today that British actress Sophie Skelton will play Brianna Randall in its original and award winning series, "Outlander" set to Premiere Season 2 in April. Click the jump to learn more about the long awaited casting.
Rumors flew last week on some Outlander Tumblr pages that Skelton has been spotted on set in Scotland. However, with no official confirmation from STARZ/Sony or Outlander producers, we couldn't confirm. However, this afternoon, all speculation ended.

Skelton has a significant number of acting credits mostly on UK television dramas including "Casualty", "So Awkward", and "Foyle's War." She is set to play the lead role in an action, adventure, fantasy series titled "Ren." Hmmm. That sounds familiar!
Here are some interesting facts about Sophie. She is one of 3 children and her two brothers are named "Sam" and "Roger." No, really? OK. That's weird. Her parents are toy inventors. Whoa. That's different! And, after studying science, math and literature at University, she decided to turn down conventional job offers to pursue an acting career. Sophie is 5 feet 8 inches tall (settle down, people!) and appears to be a natural brunette.
I am really impressed with Sophie's acting credentials for someone relatively new to the business. She is fresh, young and a face not overly familiar -- which seems to be the recipe for success for Outlander casting to date.
I am sure we will be learning MUCH, MUCH more about Sophie going forward, but it's such a relief to know that Brianna is alive and well and no doubt, stomping right into Season 2 -- at some point -- and beyond in the Series. Breathe everyone. Just BREATHE!
